In my eyes The Smiths are the best band ever.  No, most people haven't heard of them in this modern day, that's because they were an eighty's pop band.  The lyrics are pretty depressing and will put you into a trance of melencholia.  But it's fine with me because it's the most genius work I have ever heard.  Maybe I'm sick, maybe I'm twisted, but this music will probably stay with me to the end.  The Smiths' career was pretty damn short, which I think worked out quite nicely because there wasn't that doomed end career.  However, lyricist Morrissey ventured into a solo career which also is on my top of the ladder music.  I listen to The Smiths more than anything, which says something.  There will be weeks where all I listen to is The Smiths or Morrissey, nothing else.  And at times that will be all that I do.  If you're interested in buying an album, I would go with "Hatful Of Hollow" for starters, skip "The Best Of" CD's, the selection isn't that good in my opinion.  I'll end this by saying that you'll either hate The Smiths, or you'll love The Smiths- there's no in between.
